Rome museum discount cards and tickets

Rome is visited by millions of people every year. The city's attractions are often crowded and have extremely long waiting queues, particularly during peak season. However, it is possible to buy skip-the-line tickets that not only save you time, but also include free museums visits and other significant discounts. By purchasing a Rome discount card, you can have all your tickets sorted before your arrival.

Find an overview of all Rome discount cards that you can purchase to save money and time on your trip to Rome.

If you are just in Rome for a few days (or even if you are local resident), you might be interested in the Roma Pass 48h. It grants free access to the first visited museum or attraction of your choice and provides discounts to all other museums you visit within 48 hours of activation. In addition to the first free entry, this pass also includes free admission to Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, Museo della Repubblica Romana e della memoria garibaldina, Museo Bilotti a Villa Borghese, Museo Canonica, Museo delle Mura, Museo Napoleonico and Villa di Massenzio.

As your time is precious when your visit is short, the Roma Pass 48h also includes free public transport, so you can travel faster between the different sights around the city.

Also available is the Roma Pass 3 Days, for people who want to enjoy the benefits of the card for one extra day. Similar to the Roma Pass 48h, this card allows you to freely use the public transport network during the time that the pass is activated. There are some differences however: first, this 3-day pass features free entry to the first 2 visits to museums or sites (instead of one). The additional included day allows you to spread out your visits more and gives you more freedom to utilise its benefits. This pass also enables you to skip the long queues, which can often save you up to two hours of waiting time.
For people who are primarily interested in visiting the most famous sites (such as the Vatican, the Colosseum and the St. Peter's Basilica) the best card is the Vatican & Rome Card. This card includes free access to these sites and also to the Hop-on Hop-off Buses, Fast Track Entry or priority entrance, guidebooks, audio guides and discounts on the price of other attractions for a total of three consecutive days.

The most inclusive, beneficial card on offer is the Rome City Pass. It gives you the opportunity to organize your visit online before your arrival in Rome and minimizes any stress and inconvenience during the trip. For only €60 this card includes free tickets to the Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica(including skip-the- line), the Hop-on Hop-off Buses (24h) and a return airport transfer. It also includes a 20% discount to: the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, other museums such as the Villa Borghese, bike tours and cruises and excursions to other cities, including Venice, Florence and Pompeii. This pass has no time restriction unlike other passes and cards, which means there is no time pressure during your trip.
