Great Rome Squares (Piazze)
Rome's squares are one of the main attractions of the Italian Capital,
perhaps 'the core' of the city itself.
In Piazza for meeting each other,
to amuse each other and for events or for the daily 'happy hour'. For sure
the squares in Rome well represent over 1000 years of history of Rome:
St Peter's Square
This Rome's greatest square is the majestic access to
St Peter's Basilica, the centre of Christianity. Situated in the heart of the Vatican City.
Piazza di Spagna is
a masterpiece of the XVIII century with its worldwide famous Spanish steps and the Trinita dei Monti church on the top - the favourite place for the weddings to be held.
Piazza Navona
Navona square displays the spectacular Baroque triumphant architecture shown in Rome, with its famous Fountain of Four Rivers.
Piazza
del Campidoglio
Square situated on the Capitol Hill
is the headquarter of the Italian
Government and the settlement of Capitoline museums and the famous statue of the She-wolf with the twins (Romulus and Remus).
Piazza Venezia represents the 'heart of the city', with its grandiose monument of Victor Emanuel II and the outstanding Venezia Palace.
Piazza del Popolo
hosts several masterpieces inside its Church of Santa Maria del Popolo, including Caravaggio, Raffaello, Bernini, Carracci, and many more.
